Liberty Cafe at the Campaign for Liberty while Ron Paul is speaking

Hey all, Nancy here blogging from the eagle’s nest here at the Target Center in Minneapolis Minnesota. I’ve been chatting a bit with the guys over at www.unitedliberty.org. If you would like to follow the live blogging – check it out.
Up in the bloggers box...nice eh??? See those 12,000 people?

They are now playing a clip of the Fox News debate in New Hampshire. Sean Hannity, of course, is getting huge boos and Dr. Paul is getting cheers. Dr. Paul called them out on not being fair and balanced and got huge cheers.

Lew Rockwell just said “you would have to be sedated, not to be cynical”. He’s gotten the biggest applause and reaction yet. Picture of Lew:
I’m looking around the arena – and I’m wondering where everyone is? The arena is maybe 1/4 full. And we’re running behind schedule – so I’m wondering if the “guest” speaker is going to come on or not? Currently Bill Kaufman is speaking and he was supposed to be on at 2:30 and it is now 3:30. (They pretty much showed up especially when Ron Paul was speaking. What we heard was that there were from 10,000-12,000 people there…I haven’t heard an official count) Here’s some photos:

12,000 people? Dr. Ron Paul speaking.

Huge crowd: 12,000 people? Dr. Ron Paul speaking.

Surely the crowd is not all still recovering from the Ron Paul Nation Celebration last night in Blaine! Where, by the way, Katie and I got to meet Aimee Allen! Ron Paul Nation Celebration pictures:

This was great a Huge crowd of TEXANS got together to show our support! TEXAS! RON PAUL! was the chant!

I will say I have been enjoying Tucker Carlson MC’ing the event. I got a little thrill earlier today when I walked by and realized who it was. Not that I’m a big fan – but hey! There’s Tucker Carlson and man! His hair actually does look like that! I wonder if he styles it that way? or is just a bit lazy?

John McManus is the Special Guest and the head of the John Birch Society. He’s hitting on all the favorite topics of Ron Paul supporters – ending the Fed, stopping deficit spending…. Overall a fairly good speaker.

Later…. Jesse Ventura just took the stage! The flashes from the cameras are still going strong 5 minutes into his speech. He said “The two parties are destroying our country”.  He placed the blame directly on us as being the responsible parties for why things are the way they are.  We must take personal responsibility – something I wholeheartedly agree with.

He’s also brought up 9/11 – we have the right to ask questions.  He’s asking all the right questions – I would LOVE to see him run for office again.   He just announced that if we show him that we are ready, he will run for President in 2012.  “I need to see it by action.”  No chanting, no cheering, no just talking – ACTIONS by us to show the world we are ready to take our county back.

Katie and I both LOVED Jesse Ventura’s speech – he fired up the crowd and was by far the best speech so far!

Aimee Allen is up next (it’s now 5:25) and after that is a scheduled break.  I’ll be back after the break!

Just back up in the blogger’s suite from the Aimee Allen part of the program and the break. Aimee was incredible and Katie and I were both lucky enough to be right on the floor next to the stage. Amazing! I was so close to the speakers I could feel the bass shake my whole body! I think I may be hoarse for a while though – couldn’t help but to sing Ron Paul Revolution at the top of my (admittedly somewhat dubious) voice.

Jimmy Vaughan put on an unscheduled appearance with some great music – I am going to have to go back and watch the feed, because he had a great patriot song Katie and I would both like to add to our music mix! He’s going to be playing at the after party tonight as well, so maybe I can hear it again and see if it’s actually out there recorded yet or not!

Now, let me preface this next bit by saying that I had been working for Ron Paul’s campaign as an unpaid volunteer for some time up through the conventions and I am a HUGE supporter. However, he does tend to say the same speech over and over, which is I’m sure pretty par for the course considering how many speeches he has to give on an almost daily basis. So, for those of us that have heard that part of his speech tonight before, I’ll skip over it.

NOW! What he did say that was not his regular canned speech was great! He always gets great response from the crowd for his regular speech, but he really kicked it up a notch tonight. He spoke of how a true Patriot defends liberty and the people – they do not blindly support whatever the government does. A REAL Patriot would repeal the Patriot Act.

Dr. Paul received huge cheers, chants of “end the Fed!” and boos for the Fed, big government, and unwarranted military aggression.

He spoke out against the drug war – stating that as a Physician, even he can see the problems with prescription drugs! And that we should not penalize ill people through persecution by “compassionate conservatism.”

All in all, it was an amazing speech, the energy in here was great! Dr. Paul even mentioned Raw Milk!!!

At the end, he spoke of a special request he gave Aimee Allen this evening – to sing a song called “The Universal Soldier”. It speaks of the essence of decision making – should I or should I not participate in something? It’s the universal soldier that is at the mercy the most of the bureaucrats. For a thousand years, there’s been a universal soldier. It is the roll of the universal soldier to implement or stop / resist as much as it is ours. We need to replace the universal soldier with the universal champion of liberty

To end his speech, Dr. Paul said: 1.2 Million people voted for Dr. Paul in the election – and millions more listened and have woken up and now they can’t stop us!

Very inspirational and exciting! Sara Evans is playing now and I’ve enjoyed listening to her as I caught up the blog this evening. I spent the day live blogging with Brett Bittner on http://www.unitedliberty.org/

Check it out! We’ll be back this Saturday with a live show and we’re going to be recapping the events of the week!
